The aim of this paper is to discuss the lack of a unified model that can be applied to different types of texts for translating them. Here is an attempt to discuss what Nord (2009) put forward for developing such a model. This treatment stems from the development of a general model that allows for a detailed analysis of the translation difficulties. Whereas, the cultural and linguistic characteristics, as well as the objectives and efficiency of translation, can only be determined through practice. The difficulties of translation escalate when dealing with sacred texts. Because the Qur’anic text is a divine text, some opinions say that its content can’t be transferred to any other language. The debate over the permissibility of translating the Noble Qur’an continued to divide Muslim scholars until the beginning of the 20 century when Islamic institutions, such as Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, set guidelines and controls for translating the Noble Qur’an.
This, in turn, had a significant impact on the production, distribution and reception of translations of the Holy Qur'an in many non-Arabic speaking countries more than ever.
In this framework, one of the translation theories will be presented and discussed, and how to apply it to the Qur'anic text for translating it into German.
